Tight Turns! with Perry

Description: This workshop focuses on tight turns on jumps. Learn how to train your dog to turn efficiently and to understand their cues and criteria. This will be a training-focused workshop, though short sequences may be used to proof understanding.

Meat and Potatoes (Front crosses and rear crosses) with Emily

Description: Often known as the “meat and potatoes” of agility handling, the difficulty of front crosses and rear crosses is often overlooked. Learn how, when, and where to execute front and rear crosses as well as how to train your dog to respond.

ISC Sequencing for Young/Green Dogs with Emily

Hey, Good Lookin’ (ISC Level 3 coursework with a focus on where to look) with Melanie

Description: A3 coursework with the focus on where to look. Connection is imperative to success in agility, but while the concept may be simple, putting it into practice is not! In this ISC Level 3 workshop, you will learn when and where you should be looking and why it matters.

AWC Tryout Prep with Casey

Discrimination Games with Melanie

Description: Come learn a variety of games all geared towards developing the ability to listen and problem-solve while on the agility course! We all know that every agility course is different, and our dogs need to be able to adapt, change, and listen when presented with similar but different pictures. These games require minimal equipment and are suitable for puppies 6 months and older as well as seasoned agility dogs looking to improve in these areas. Melanie will explain both the games as well as how to troubleshoot when things don’t go as planned and how to keep your pup’s success rate and fun factor high!

Description: This workshop will focus on laying the foundations for higher-level challenges. Topics will include discrimination training, backsides and threadle foundation, and listening skills. This workshop assumes dogs know tunnels and jumps and is suitable for older puppies and dogs of any age wanting to strengthen or add to their complex skills.

Description: Rushing is one of the most common mistakes people make in agility. It can cause refusals, off-courses, bars, and lots of frustration for our dogs. Learn how to see and trust commitment and expand your dog’s skills so you never feel rushed and develop seamless teamwork with your dog. Dogs should be able to run longer sequences. Contacts and weaves may be included.

Blind Cross Anywhere/Anytime! with Melanie

Description: It is no secret that dogs respond more naturally to body language than words. In this workshop, speaking (other than release words) will not be allowed. Learn just how strongly you can speak to your dog without words to develop the ultimate communication system with them.

Description: Does your dog struggle to drive ahead of you with confidence? Does your dog have trouble holding commitment to the first jump on a lateral lead-out? This workshop will focus on independent start-line behaviors (such as marking a jump), as well as driving lines and layering, to help your dog maintain forward focus with confidence and speed.

All Things TUNNEL! with Jess and Soshana

Time: 9:00am-5:00pm (with a one-hour lunch break - full-day seminar)

Description: This a full day workshop. Does your dog blast through tunnels without control or hesitate at tricky entrances? This workshop will focus on both tunnel entrances and exits, teaching your dog to confidently find the correct entry while staying responsive to handling cues on the way out. We’ll also work on tunnel breaks, tunnel bypasses, and making sure your dog understands when to take the tunnel and when to ignore it. Spend half the day with Jess and half the day with Soshana.

Backsides and Threadles with Stef

Description: This is a full day workshop. Learn how to train and cue your dog to perform backsides and threadles.  This will be a training focused workshop but sequences will be used to help proof understanding for dog and handler.  Spend half the day training and running short sequences that focus on Backsides (wraps and slices) and half the day training and running short sequences that focus on Theadles (wraps and slices). Any level dog is welcome but a basic knowledge of sequencing is needed
